The wedge-shaped tension clamp utilizes the splitting force of the wedge to lock the steel strand inside the clamp. The main body and wedge of the wedge-shaped tension clamp are made of malleable cast iron. The steel strand is bent into the same shape as the wedge and installed in the clamp. When the steel strand is subjected to force, the wedge and the steel strand slide along the clamp cylinder wall towards the clamp outlet, becoming tighter and gradually locked.
1. Wedge type tension clamp
Wedge type tension clamps are used to install steel strands, secure lightning protection wires, and pull wires for tower structures. The installation and removal of wedge-shaped tension clamps are relatively convenient. After installing the steel strand, the outlet end of the wire clamp is tied tightly to the load-bearing wire with a No. 8 galvanized iron wire or fixed at the tangent point with a steel wire clamp.
2. Wedge shaped UT tension clamp
During the installation or operation of the guy wires in the cable tower, the tension of the guy wires must be adjusted to ensure balance. To facilitate the installation or adjustment of the cable, adjustable cable clamps are installed near the cable rod extending from the lower end of the cable.
The adjustment of the cable can be done using basket screws or wedge-shaped UT tension clamps, but currently the cable towers of the line rarely use basket screws to adjust the cable. The wedge-shaped UT tension clamp consists of a wedge nut, a wedge, and a long U-shaped screw with a certain adjustment range. This clamp is used to fix the cable and adjust the length of the cable. This type of wire clamp is suitable for installing galvanized steel strands with the model GJ-25-70.
3. Wedge type UT tension clamp (non adjustable)
The non adjustable UT type tension clamp is used to fix the upper end tension of the cable tower. This type of clamp is easier to install than wedge type tension clamps. Its U-shaped screw cannot be adjusted in length, but using this UT shaped tension clamp to fix the upper cable can reduce the number of connecting fittings.
The fixed wedge type tension clamp and UT type tension clamp are both single wedge structures, so attention should be paid to the direction of force on the wedge during installation. Incorrect installation can cause the steel strand to experience significant bending stress at the clamp outlet, leading to wire breakage and a decrease in the mechanical strength of the clamp.
